Scientists & Technologists
Based: Exeter (UK)
Organisation: University of Exeter

Regan graduated from the University of Bristol with a MSci in physics with astrophysics, before working in finance for a couple of years. They returned to academia and started a PhD at the University of Exeter in 2021, studying the stratospheric pathway and far-flung influences on midlatitude weather and climate extremes. Regan is also passionate about inclusive and accessible science, supporting a range of outreach and public engagement initiatives and organisations alongside their PhD. During their time as RMetS’ science engagement fellow for youth and early careers, they helped develop new initiatives to better engage with, support, and celebrate people of colour in the field. They now bring this drive for greater diversity in the field of weather and climate to their role as co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal Weather.

“Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What’s important is the action. You don’t have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually the confidence will follow.” - Carrie Fisher
