“Just climate change action must overhaul the social, economic, cultural and political inequities that got us here. The past and present is riddled with painful and resilient stories of peoples and communities on the frontlines of climate change impacts, neoliberal globalisation, and marginalisation. As we fight to transition to a world rooted in dignity, well-being and agency for all, we must also hold those most responsible to account for the heartbreaking consequences of prioritizing profit over people and planet. To fail is to surrender to the knowledge that my daughter will age in a world described as “incompatible with an organised global community.” The only alternatives are collective empowerment and action, rooted in a radical but strategic hopefulness in our capacity to be and do better.”
