Charise is a science and environmental policy researcher and an advocate for just and equitable public policies. She believes that evidence-based policies are necessary for upholding democracy; that governments must be transparent about the evidence used in decision making to protect the health and safety of the public and environment. With experience in environmental justice and health, ocean conservation, and community partnership-building, her interests are innumerable and interdisciplinary, but can all be categorised under the umbrella of science and society. Charise holds a BA in Psychology, an MS in Environmental Science, and considers herself a jack of a few trades.
“Science is important but can only take us so far. The arts, humanities, and social sciences play a crucial role in culture, behaviour and ultimately policy change.”
