Nisha Owen
Dr. Nisha Owen is the Executive Director of Global Greengrants Fund UK, one of the world’s leading grantmakers supporting climate justice and environmental justice grassroots movements across Global Majority countries.
She also chairs the IUCN SSC Phylogenetic Diversity Task Force, a global group of experts providing expertise on the conservation of evolutionary history; and sits on the Conservation Advisory Panel of World Land Trust.
Previously, Nisha was Director of Conservation at On the Edge, a philanthropic foundation supporting conservation, science and storytelling, and before that led the Zoological Society of London’s EDGE of Existence programme empowering the next generation of conservation leaders from Global Majority countries, including innovative online capacity building initiatives with United for Wildlife and National Geographic Society.
Nisha holds a PhD in human-wildlife conflict from the University of Leeds, and also serves as a Trustee of the London Learning Foundation.
