Ten Years’ Time (CEO)
Derek Bardowell is a writer, transformative coach, and CEO of Ten Years’ Time, a philanthropy education firm that helps ambitious donors and foundations to repair harm and rebalance power by resourcing racial and economic justice with care and confidence.
Derek advocates for reparations and works at the intersection of race, culture, and philanthropy. He has written for many publications and newspapers including The Times, The Guardian, Time Out, and British GQ, and contributed to anthologies such as The Weeklings: Revolution #1 and Black British Lives Matter.
After moving into the nonprofit sector, he directed award-winning youth programmes for the Stephen Lawrence Trust. From 2009 to 2019, Derek has been responsible for distributing over £150 million to good causes in 34 countries.
Derek’s first book, NO WIN RACE explored race and racism in modern Britain through the lens of sport. His second book, Giving Back: How To Do Good, Better (2022), reimagines philanthropy through a reparative lens.
